"The worlds in which I have lived and grown
have made me what must be called a human being. If he be good, then
there is that other side, and if he be evil, there is again another side, and if the ability to comprehend the reasonableness
of both seems confounding to those who are content with one dimension, to others as to me, it is an endless source of interest
and amusement and opportunity for love and life. We have no enemies, we for whom the globe is home, for we hate no one, and
where there is no hate, it is not possible to escape love."

New Touring Pilot Program
The West Virginia Division of Culture and History (WVDCH) announces the Touring Program,
a grant-free pilot program available through the West Virginia Commission
on the Arts (WVCA) that subsidizes select artist visits to schools in West Virginia.
Here is how it works:
·Schools contact the approved artist directly to book a program.
·A contract is developed by
the artist.
·The artist presents the program.
·The school pays the artist their portion of
the artist fee (as per the agreement).
oAdditional
funding is available to these counties: Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mingo, Roane, Summers, Wirt, Wyoming
·On the date of the performance, the school fills out an evaluation
form by hand and returns it to the artist.
·That’s
it! No grant writing necessary!
The goal of the Touring Program is to encourage deeper arts experiences by facilitating the ease of
taking art into West Virginia’s communities with
an emphasis on serving distressed counties. This program was created based on feedback received from teachers, administrators,
and artists regarding our current Mini Grant program. The participating artists were selected because of their active
participation in the Mini Grant
program as well as their commitment for bringing quality arts programming to young audiences.
Matching
funds are limited, so be sure to book your date early!
